One of the multimedia videos up in today's NYT style section is called
"On the Street, A Story With Legs." It calls attention to a current trend that is apparently bursting at the seams in Paris. This trend, as street reporter Bill Cunningham says, requires a lot of patience and a lot of dough. In the multimedia piece, he talks about the variety of ultra-long boots that are available in Paris. Some designers, such as Louis Vuitton and Marc Jacobs, have truly succeeded in keeping this trend sexy and subtle. Others, however, were so extreme that I was shocked people actually spent over $1,000 on them (or euros I guess). Especially during a recession! I feel it's a line that's been abused lately, but come on. Prada, for example, makes "fisherman boots," which literally look as they sound. Is it really okay to walk around with horse hairs dragging behind you? Do you really have time to put on pants that double as boots? AND on top of that- these pants lace up... all the way up.
I don't get it. Then again, next year, when the trend finally hits New York, I hate to admit that I'll undoubtedly be aching for them (tall boots that is, not so much the horse hair or boot-pants).

I'd like to see someone slip those on. Actually, I'd like someone to time it. To be honest, the more I look at these ones, the more I am attracted to them.

success.
